Hey Kaito, have you ever heard of Cyril Takayama?

And we're going to Bali next time we go on vacation, okay Saguru?

[It's a dark, echoing place. There are confusing patches of light, like dim, distant windows, and you feel like it must be a building, that there must be walls somewhere, but at the same time the darkness stretches on so far as to feel infinite.

There is a feeling of being alone. And small.

And threatened.

But you have to go on, have to keep moving. There's no telling what will happen if you stay still. )

[Somewhere deep, deep in the crumbled, abandoned remains of what was once the slums of Merry Widow, past a half-collapsed armory containing the charred and broken bits of disturbing weapons from a bygone era, there is a rickety old house surrounded by a high wire fence. Perhaps once warm and welcoming, the building now holds all the nostalgia of a bombed-out schoolhouse in a forbidden and forgotten war zone.

A hole has been cut in the chain link fence, just large enough for a person to pass through. Beyond it, the entire wall of the building has been taken out, and the inside is rank with mildew and mist. Rotting books, pictures, wallpaper, and less identifiable substances have seeped into the surroundings, left to decompose where they fell years ago, the sad reminders of a life ended tragically quick. Even the bandits (shady, violent criminals that have made a territory of the remains of the city) and the vagabonds (dusty, homeless wanderers with sticky fingers who hide in the cracks) have left this area well enough alone. It's too dilapidated to safely worldhop straight in, and too far into the ruins to be reached by car or mount. It seems impossible that a wheelchair might have come this way, but if one carefully examines the dusty ground between the jagged chunks of concrete, tire tracks (and deeper dragging tracks) are faintly visible.

There are more tracks inside the house, criss-crossing the filthy floor and the even more filthy remains of old carpets. There are signs that the stairs have been used as well -- not as recently as the tracks, but sometime after the house fell into disrepair. A year or so ago, perhaps? The door at the top of the stairs hangs drunkenly half-on, half-off its hinges, and the massive, echoing room beyond is dark and in complete shambles. The rest of the building is hardly any brighter, half-buried as it is in the debris of the surrounding city. The depressing shades of gray give it the feeling of being frozen forever in some terrible moment in time, sealed off from the outside world of the living. And for a place that was once so filled with music, it is now stuffed to the seams with deadened silence.

It can't possibly be healthy to live here.

For all intents and purposes, nobody's home, and nobody has been for a while. But under the grime, some of the water bottles and garbage look newer than the rest, and there's plenty of nooks and crannies in the former music academy that are large enough to hide a person...]

There's akuma here!! I thought the Earl didn't know about this place!! Why are they showing up now?!

((Yeah, those living near Alize will find her acting fairly paranoid. She knows exactly what these things can do. :<))

If I never see another feather, it'll be too soon. Hate gods. Thanks for worrying about me, Kyon, Daisuke.

Kaito, Aoko, are you ready to go? It might take a while to find the nomads, so we have to leave before noon. Hakuba and I are already packed.

((Alize'll be bringing a special foldable outdoor wheelchair made for going over sand and rough terrain.))

[VERY ANGRY QUACKING]

((Eris turned Alize into a duck. Which she is not happy about, because she was pissed off enough last time she was virused into a plush duck. Akako plz help. :<))
dressedinmelody: (talking even though they can't talk)
I really, really hate gods. Like it wasn't bad enough when they first showed up here. Now there's even more of them. And what was with that one idiot guy who kept saying hockey is better than basketball?!

Okay, Kaito, Hakuba! This is a list of all the places on my world I know about. Just tell me which ones you want to go see first. And get Aoko and Akako to look at them too!

Blue Hawaii - It's this coastal city up north. A lot of people go there for vacation, but it's pretty boring.

the White Night Desert - A huge desert that takes up most of the middle of the continent. Supposedly only the nomads know how to get through the whole thing.

the City of Corpse - On the far side of the White Night Desert. Mostly demons and ghouls live there. I heard their new prince just got instated.

Sungria - There's a lot of mining done there, and it's mostly deserts and badlands. Kind of backwards, too. Like a western movie. Hakuba, you need to get more of those by the way. They're fun.

Aviation - It's a city south of the White Night Desert. They deal in electricity, and it's where the cat people live.

Rusty Nail - Near Widow's Kiss. They're really popular for their medicine and the Guardian Bird. The chief surgeon, Doctor Uryan, is really skilled. I've met him before.

Moulin Rouge - Also near my hometown. They're the funeral district to go along with the medicinal one. It's a really big city, though, and a lot of people visit it. There used to be a Love Tax, but I heard it was lifted a few years ago.

Czarine - The floating City of Ore. I don't really know a lot about it, except that you need to watch out for the Tovarisch.

Pompier - Pretty far north. They're known for their artists, and their paints and colours. The alcohol's supposed to be pretty good, too.

You guys've already been to Zaza, of course. There's no way we're going to the City of Thieves, even if I knew how to get there. Which I don't.

And then there's the ruined cities. Reviver, Orgeat, and Rocket Town. And Merry Widow.

((She's deliberately not mentioning Adonis because she wants to take Hakuba there sometime as a surprise, because she knows he'll like it. Last strike is unhackable except for uberhackers, ie. gods.))

I'm heading out to Zaza early to sort some things out with the musicians before the Masquerade starts. Kaito, Aoko, I'll have your masks ready for you when you guys get here, okay?

If anybody wants to find me, I'm going to be staying in room 303 at the Anonimato.

Turn down the lights, turn down the bed
Turn down these voices inside my head
Lay down with me, tell me no lies
Just hold me close, don't patronize (don't patronize me)

'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these lonely hours
I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
But you won't, no, you won't
'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't

I'll close my eyes, then I won't see
The love you don't feel when you're holding me
Morning will come and I'll do what's right
Just give me till then to give up this fight (and I will give up this fight)

'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these lonely hours
I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
But you won't, no, you won't
'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't

Guess I should offer to get masks for everyone like last year. I'll have to get Jordan or someone to worldhop me back home.

. . . It's sure been a while since I've been there . . . I wonder if Eyguebelle's changed at all. Probably not.

[Private -- hackable to those with the necessary computer skills]

I don't know what to tell him. Either of them. I don't know how to talk to him, I don't -- I don't even know if we can be friends. It was bad enough having him lose all his memories that first time to Yuuko, but this -- I know it's still him, but what am I supposed to say?! "Sorry, I can't hang out with you because every time I look at you I'm reminded of everything you forgot"?

I can't do that to him.

And the stupidest thing is that I actually feel better talking to him. It was just a few sentences! I've been with Dyme for almost a year, I shouldn't -- it shouldn't be this way. The whole thing will just happen all over again, exactly the same as before.

Sometimes I wish Jing had just stolen me away and been done with it.
